Class Materials: Be prepared to take extensive notes and diagrams. References to materials covered in each class will be posted to the class website(TBA). Students requesting additional self-testing will be provided non-credit lesson exams.
Purpose: Understanding the design and workings of modern data networks(wired and wireless) with special attention to the proper use of the OSI model; connectivity to the greater Internetï¼›Internet2 architecture and applications; and elementary security concepts.
Catalog Description: IT605– Network Architecture(3). This course will examine telecommunications fundamentals including data, voice, image, and video and the concepts, models, architectures,protocols, standards, and security for the design, implementation, and management of digital networks. Essential of local area netwoks(LAN), metropolitan area networks(MAN), and wide area networks(WAN) will be examined. Regulatory and technical environments also will be reviewed.
